Learn & Reference is the app's teaching library: seven narrative guides, eight quick-reference lookups, the tutorial, and the App Guide that carries this manual inside the app. On the Desk it is deliberately not a sidebar row; you reach it through Settings or the Tools console, and the back control returns you where you came from. Everything in it is bundled with the app and is educational reference, not operational guidance.

Press / on the hub to focus the search; it narrows all three groups at once, and an empty result says No matches.
How to open Learn & Reference
- Click Settings in the sidebar, or press Cmd+, (Ctrl+, on Windows).
- Open the Help & about section ("Learn, tours, guides, about").
- Click Learn & Reference ("Decode weather & NOTAMs, descent, FTL, phonetic, Morse, squawk"). The Help & onboarding row in the same section links the hub too, beside App Guide and FAQ.
The other doorway is the Learn & Reference card in the Tools console's Reference & learn category.
How to read a guide
- In Guides, click a card, for example Decoding weather.
- On a wide window the article is three columns: the contents docked on the left, the reading column in the centre, and Sources and Related guides on the right.
- Click a topic in the contents to expand it and scroll to it, or click Expand all.
- Read the worked examples: a real-shaped raw report next to its plain-English reading, with a source chip naming the convention it restates.
How to look something up in Quick reference
- Scroll to Quick reference, or search for the lookup by name.
- Click a row. Each opens as a page of panels:

- Read the framing panel on the page. Squawk codes, for one, says "Reference only - verify current regional codes via official AIP."
How to follow a how-to
- Click Begin tour in Start here. The tutorial hub shows Core modules ("step by step") as reading cards and Everything else ("short reads") as an index, with a Search how-tos field.
- Click a card. Each how-to names where the feature lives, then the numbered steps in the labels of the real screens.
- Click Take me there to land on the feature itself.
- The Tour progress panel on the Learn hub keeps a Start or Continue control pointing at the next how-to, and opened entries are marked Viewed.
How to read this manual inside the app
- Click App Guide in Start here, or open it from Settings > Help & about > Help & onboarding > App Guide.
- Browse the groups - Start here, Core modules, Plan and fly, Toolkit, Account and data - or type in Search the guide.
- Click a chapter. It is the same text as the iOS guide, adapted to read without screenshots.
The Learn library on this website
The site's own Learn library holds more than a hundred articles, a glossary, topic pages and reading paths that go further than the in-app guides, and this Desk guide sits beside the iOS User Guide. Neither is a substitute for your official sources.
On iPhone and iPad
The hub is a tile grid reached from Settings or the Tools tab, with the same guides and lookups. Learn & Reference on iPhone covers the live demos in the tutorial.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find Learn in the sidebar, Cmd+1 to 9 or the command deck. It is not a listed destination on the Desk. Use Settings > Help & about or the Tools console.
"/" did nothing on the hub. The shortcut only fires when no field is focused. Click an empty part of the page and press it again.
The App Guide version is older than my app. The foot names the version the text was verified against; the website chapters are updated more often, and each carries its own appVersion line.
Take me there landed on a search page. Where the destination needs something real, such as an airport, the how-to lands on the search and says what to do next rather than inventing an example.
