Free vs Pro

What the free app includes, what the Pro subscription unlocks, and where the line runs - stated plainly.

On this page

Pilot EFB is a free download with an optional subscription, and this chapter is the honest map of the line between them. The guide marks every Pro-gated walkthrough with a small Pro chip, so nothing in these pages leads you into a paywall unannounced.

What free includes

The free tier is a working flight companion, not a demo:

  • Weather and NOTAMs - fetch, decode and read them, with the raw text always kept.
  • Logbook - log flights and see your hours and currency, up to 300 logged hours.
  • Duty records - log duties and view your own history and roster (the Duty tab's History and Roster segments stay free), up to 20 duties.
  • Flight folders - up to 3 folders to organise trips.
  • Alert monitoring for 1 watched location.
  • The learning material - the FTL rules guide, decoders and quick reference cards ask for no subscription.

The caps exist so the free app stays honest: your data is never held hostage, and anything you logged stays viewable if a subscription lapses.

What Pro unlocks

Pilot EFB Pro is one subscription covering the full toolkit. The headline items:

  • The live FTL engine: the Duty dashboard, cumulative limit tracking, calendar grading, reserve assessment and the What-if planner (Duty & FTL).
  • Roster import - PDF, CSV and calendar files - with batch review and undo.
  • The full logbook: unlimited entries, PDF export and career reports.
  • The briefing toolkit at full depth, more watched locations for alerts, and the rest of the Pro surface the guide chapters mark with the Pro chip.

Pricing

  • iOS (iPhone and iPad): 39.99 US dollars per year, or 4.99 per month, as an App Store subscription. There is no free trial.
  • Web: the web edition is a separate plan - 99.99 US dollars per year, yearly only - for signed-in Pro subscribers on the web.

Pricing carries the current table and the fine print; prices in other currencies follow your App Store region.

Managing the subscription

The iOS subscription is bought and managed through Apple: the Pilot EFB Pro row at the top of Settings shows your state, and cancelling or changing plan happens in your App Store account settings. Your data is yours regardless - lapsing back to free never deletes anything you logged.
